Redhead isn't a third wheel, he's an ex-classmate of Chanyoung's whom he accidentally injured. The circumstances will be explained better in the upcoming (raw) chapters, but it seems like the rumours got so bad that it made Chanyoung the reclusive, antisocial guy he is now. In chapter 40 he meets redhead again when he sees him at the café Hyunjin works at, and he has a full-on panic attack in front of him and Hyunjin. Luckily, instead of the whole "misunderstanding and running away" trope, Hyunjin actually is helping Chanyoung and is shown taking him home.
