the character motivations make zero sense, the relationships are incredibly unrealistic, and the entire premise of the game has the opportunity to be interesting but the way it’s handled is so inconsistent.

it’s obviously a work of fiction but even when it comes to world-building there’s certain rules with consistency and narrative. this story was genuinely all over the place and the ultimate message is completely lost.
i actually thought the premise of a card-based caste system was interesting but the author leaves so many plot holes. in the end it was interesting to see how the characters’ lives progressed and the development of the side pairings, but ultimately the story itself was so buns
