the cover remains foreshadowing

no matter how their relationship develops, the cover of this book will always serve as a reminder to what their relationship is; a severe power imbalance and the abuse of authority. he will always tower over dan, will always have more hold in their relationship. we see this all the time, in the way dan talks about his stay, his contract, his life. his apologies and emotions and trying to make himself feel as small as possible.

being nice and seeing your faults is a good start. but it wont undo what their relationship started out as and the foundation it continued to built. there is too much emotional and physical abuse that it is almost suffocating reading it happen.

sure this is fiction, but this can very much be someone’s reality.

But it will never not be fiction tho, and people read these stores for the toxic, because it's not real

Omg I agree! I can’t get past all the physical, emotional, and sexual abuse that Dan has suffered at the hands of this monster. When People try to justify Jae’s actions towards Dan by using his childhood, I get so frustrated lol Dan also had a rough upbringing and is trying to make the best with what he has and still has a heart of gold, so just because someone’s experienced a traumatic childhood doesn’t mean they can be an egregious individual. I’m glad Jae is trying to learn to be more understanding and compassionate and will pay credit where it’s due, but it's still inexcusable. Sorry for the rant lol I get heated up whenever it comes to my sweet dan
