In the novel, he didn't shove maxi against a wall. He let her walk in, threw his tunic on the ground and told her to talk and to tell him the reason why she did it. (Remember when maxi fell on the stairs bc riftan walked too fast before they left for the campaign bc she wanted to talk? He's letting her talk.) Maxi was near tears when they were talking. Ursuline intervened when riftan was gonna go into yelling yelling mode bc they were creating a loud scene for others to hear. So he left bc he didnt wanna say things he was gonna regret. When he left, she was bawling her eyes out. Ursurline stood there, unable to say anything. Maxi noticed in a way that there was a change in how he viewed her but she was busy crying. He said he will bring in the ppl she was close with. It was Ruth, Elliot, yuly, and garrow that he brought. Ruth was the first to show, immediately jumping into the tent, asking if she was ok. Ursurline realized that Ruth been knowing but decides not to yell at him bc riftan will. Elliot was shocked to see maxi there and was even more shocked when he realized that he was with maxi before they set off to where they are at. Maxi was happy to see yuly bc he was the first to be happy that she was there. Later on, it would be maxi and garrow who will guard her.
