I rarely see this in stories...

I love the part where Elva was grappling with Alto being part of the Black Sea.

He was emotional (rightfully so), doubtful of Alto (again, rightfully so!), and just overall mentally conflicted. He was visibly and PALPABLY affected by it.

And yet he took the time to think things through, look back on all the years of interactions they had, the evidence before him, and concluded that he should trust the person he loved based on THAT.

PLUUUUUS, he confronted and faced the issue directly ANNND stopped Alto from running away from the issue, too.

This is proof that you can be EMOTIONAL, hit all the emotional beats to give this turmoil the emotional and mental gravity it deserves, but still have a THINKING character who doesn't throw away their character growth for a dramatic arc!!

Just because you have a Smart/Thinking-archetype character doesn't mean they can't be emotional about a grave issue! And still do a smart thing to address it!!

It's just so rare to see this way of characterization that I just had to point it out! People have a hard time balancing this kind of thing because either 1) the characters are focused too much on the hurt and forget all the emotional and character growth they had and regress then not address/avoid the issue or 2) the characters are too blasé about the issue and they forget to hit the emotional beats that sufficiently acknowledges the issue at hand. Both of which make it a little frustrating (for me, personally) to read. Especially for characters that we've been with for a long time already who should have grown already.

Maybe it's the blessing of having a long- running series being allowed to flesh out their world more? But let's be real, tons of long- running stories have some kind of "misunderstanding/betrayal" arc that either goes the overly-emotional "illogical" route or the dissatisfyingly unemotional "logical" route.

Idk either way...

UGH. Amazing, Yuno Ichika-sensei. You cooked with this one, again! ♂○| ̄|_
