The only reason I still follow this manhwa is seme's expressions, lol. This manhwa is as tropey as it gets but it does justify the tropes much better than a lot of other popular BL manhwas. It's definitely overrated. But it's not more or less overrated than a lot of other popular manhwas. In any case, it often feels like the artist is very fond of drawing the seme. Like they have a lot of fun with his character design and his expressions.
With everything i have read about jinx on this platform, it's evident that his character is a big reason why this manhwa got the extra carry, love him or hate him, he does have a lot of personality and draws a LOT of attention, and the uke doesn't have enough. Everytime I see the seme with his grumpy scowl face, i chuckle. His pout-face, his embarrassed face, his pissy face, makes him look like a cute spoilt little kid in the middle of a throwing a tantrum lol. His expressive face is a such a refreshing change from most semes in bl manhwas with their characteristic wooden, stoic faces. Like the way chaebols or middle class semes are written, who largely conform to korean societal and moral codes of conduct. Jaekyung openly does not give a shit. Lol. And it reads believable to me because Jaekyung comes from a socially and economically disenfranchised class himself. He was able to jump several classes in a highly class obsessed society on the sheer force of emotion and the determination borne of it. So now he doesn't care about the social codes of conduct because he thinks he is above them all. To reach a stage where he could separate the wheat from the chaff to be able to make the right judgment calls, to reach such heights in his career, he naturally became desensitised to a lot of things. He was able to break the economic part of the curse his father's legacy brought him. (And the uke will help break the emotional imo). But Jaekyung in a way achieved something he wanted to on his terms despite the odds he faced, and that makes him and interesting character to read. His character might be tropey but it's a well justified trope. I like how his feelings are on his face and he openly doesn't care about convention in a highly collectivist society. He is arrogant af, he is foul mouthed, he doesn't care about korean diplomacy lol, he is proud, egotistical and he doesn't care who sees it lol. He carries it all very well, and it reads engaging to me because the artist is able to draw him so well on top of the writing. His writing justifies the trope of rags to riches success story of a downtrodden undesirable who shut his heart to love. imo he can be as vulnerable and oblivious as the next person, he is just very good at masking his insecurities and weaknesses. And it reads believable to me. And no shade to anyone who doesn't like him, to each to your own, I find him entertaining and endearing.

There are many down on luck ukes in the genre but there aren't many semes with jk's resting grumpface pff. In short, I am following this manhwa for seme's eyebrows. Lol jk. Pun intended.
