Back when I started this Manga, I was glad Blue Period had no romance and focused on Yatora's journey, especially since a lot of times romance in Manga is so unrealistic, over sexualized or too male gazed. Sometimes a bad written romance can ruin a good story.
But I'm now glad Blue Period is touching on Yatora's view of love. Like the TA said, there's love in art and how it remains after time.
At the beginning of the story, Yatora used to wear a mask of himself to fit into society, while walking in a too thin line of not being too much something enough to define him. Art is what dropped that mask and allowed him to connect deeply with his emotions and humanity. Now Yatora loves art, a love that can be addictive, toxic and destructive.
Personally, here I don't think Kinemi even likes Yatora, she has a crush, one that comes from being show kindness (I can painfully relate) but it's not really love. But now with her crushing on him, Yatora has to face a new emotion love for another person, especially romantic. Something we haven't seen of him so far. I'm very interested to see how it goes for him, and hope to see his love-inspired new art piece once he figures out what the emotion of love means to him.
