How many pages was this even?! I genuinely didn't expect a oneshot to make me cry, maybe it was also a bad idea to listen to the new album of The Neighborhood while reading this (namely Hula Girl). The art and narration of everything gradually getting revealed was so masterfully done. Reading about the death by burning alive and seeing Hajime's outfit resembling the creature's, connecting the dots and seeing him mentioning "a hug is all I'll have". It truly made me tear up right there. Hajime saying they should break up because he wants Hikaru to live, I was expecting some twist where he survived the fall but not the way they said goodbye. So raw, brutal and beautiful at the same time.
I love this, and honestly I think it has the perfect length, it told a story about regret and farewells, I hope Hikaru finds a happy ending.
