This whole thing reminds me of "I can fix her" meme, because that's what Luke is essentially trying to do with Andrew. Andrew has problems. He always has been. Luke has been trying to change that, and all it does is making Andrew feel insecure and uncomfortable. While Luke is right that a healthy human should have their own life outside of their romantic partner, not everyone lives that way. You just can't force someone to change because you don't like a certain aspect of their life. For a relationship to work, you have to compromise.

As far as I'm concerned, Andrew has been trying to do that, hence why he tried to mingle with Luke's friends even though he was uncomfortable. Luke, on the other hand, isn't really doing much for Andrew. Andrew's increasing insecurity means Luke hasn't been successful at asserting that Andrew is a neccessity in his life. If Luke cannot change himself to prioritize Andrew, then he shouldn't expect Andrew to change for him. There needs to be efforts made on both side if they want this relationship to work.
