I think they're pretty okay couple -even though the ages did end up questionable- but I really dislike the way Kanji handled that entire thing. Don't really care about your reasons, fact is he invaded his privacy, got close to him with clear motives and took money when poor guy already had trust issues, deceived him, manipulated him to fall in line with the parents' wishes, and then had the nerve to basically call him ungrateful and be the one to walk away. Sorry, but your parents financial situation has nothing to do with him, and his parents throwing money at him for compensation doesn't make up for them being controlling or toxic. It feels lke the manga wanted to act like the parents aren't actually all that bad in the end, but many things mentioned here and there make it hard for me to believe that. Anyway, good job trying to convince them a dude is actually good enough, when they tried to pay off a woman. Bet cutting off contact won't sound so bad then.
