I don't mind the inclusion of toxic shitty characters in stories. What I do mind is how authors give them a supposed redemption arc and all is swept under the rug. If this shitty guy eventually got his comeuppance, I would rock with that. Besides the "asshole rich guy X timid poor girl" trope is beyond overdone
