They are using 3D modeling and since the author has had a hard time being bullied by readers they’ve probably been in an art slump. Sometimes it means the angles aren’t checked or visualised properly (speaking from experience). I can’t see any actual inconsistencies which would point to AI use (weird noise, interrupted lines/shadows, etc)
did this chapter look like ai to anyone else?? like just the angles when those two were talking looked a bit odd
