Maybe I’m the only one taking a completely objective look at it free of bias, but I’m not gonna fault JK right now actually. Just for this “jinx” thing again I mean. I was mad at first that he’s actually going through with it, but think about it: Dan thinks this is probably the only way he can help JK and would definitely internalize it if he decided he didn’t want to out of the blue. And JK promised him to let him go, so deliberately dodging the pregame ritual would almost seem like he’s trying to throw the match when it comes to the jinx. Plus, JK might be thinking it’s the last time he’ll be able to have Dan like that so he’s taking what he can get. As far as their arrangement goes, he needs to win the match to “give Dan his freedom” (Dan’s viewpoint) and he knows that’s how Kim Dan sees it.
