What I love about this manga is how more people are cooking up theories about the behavior and psychology of the characters. Their breakdown in each chapter introduces so many new perspectives that I wouldn't have gotten if I just read it blindly.
I'm sure the latest 'sacrifice' will hold meaning after a few more chapters.

You remember the scene when Okaya's parents are kneeling before him, and Okaya is holding a cockroach cage? (Chapter 36) A few more panels later (page 10), we see Okaya envisioning himself inside that very cockroach cage.
Now go to Chapter 51, page 9. "The fact that only god is able to love cockroaches is something that you could never begin to understand."
→ Okaya views himself as a cockroach. → If Okaya is the cockroach, then who is the 'God' in his comment? → Now look back to Chapter 28, a mere passing line said by an agitated Nagare only fueled him further.
Okaya: "Why don't you just run away? You don't want to keep looking at cockroaches, don't you?" Nagare: "I will never run away from you."
→ Okaya views Nagare as the god who is able to love a cockroach like him, all because he will never run away (abandon) from him.
→ With how sick and twisted Okaya is, I'm sure he viewed this as a proclamation of love by Nagare merely for 'not running away'. Remember, even Okaya's own father tried to run away from his own son multiple times, and perhaps even set fire to the house.
→ The mother, whom we now know is a huge contributor to her son's sick behavior, deemed that 'not running away' as a form of love and parental responsibility. It won't be surprising if she had fed Okaya a very similar ideology before.
Another thing that I'm curious about is why the mother looked 'hypnotised,' yet the father looks... 'normal'? We know the father is a psychological hypnotist; there is a high possibility that the father hypnotized the mother, but how and why?
