It's a flashback and at the end of side story 3 it's already showing the present times how mc and ml both look un happy, mc finally broken and feels better if he just die, and just look at ml face, deep down he know that he don't like it, he look a lot happier when the mc is genuinely happy and not in the broken state like right now Ml is smart but also stupid, why do all of that shit when he can just confess like a normal person?
