I knew something was off with him being so friendly. He's a nice, almost decent guy but his ulterior motives and inferiority complex luckily weren't directed to harm, trick or manipulate ML. It ended up in curiosity and admiration, making him feel superior because he was having his crush's attention. He came clean and he even started having feelings for ML but he is straight... So even if they start dating, he needs to come to terms with his sexuality first. But I sense problems which it's such a shame because I love this kind of ML.
