I thought they meant he'd lose his ability to guide and there's possibly he would die
In this world, they make it seem like forgetting and losing your ability is basically the same thing because this particular (or maybe all of them) needed something tragic to release their abilities.
Did i get it wrong? i think this time mc will forget? i understood it like that from what the doctor said?
