Yes so many Arc to cover, we still have the Nightmare at Ethelyn. The 3 years gap, the Pamela Plateau Arc and what comes after Pamela Plateau Arc. Dang but the Nightmare at Ethelyn brok my heart for Riftan the most. I read his POV in the Novel. If I were in his shoes I would also go half insane as what Sir Herbaro described.

Spoiler Alert! Nightmare at Ethelyn




So we are now at the Ethelyn arc, if I’m not mistaken they will recapture the Ethelyn castle and put barriers around it. Riftan then was planning on provoking the Leader of the monsters on the next fight to end the war. Can’t blame the man he was in haste to bring Maxi back to Anatol.

So the coalition army together with the princess and the Temple knights went to the battle field while the mages, clerics and wounded soldiers stayed behind at the Ethelyn Castle. Maxi took an eye shut because of tiredness and was woken up because of Ulyseon Rover. Apparently undead suddenly emerged from the ground and begun attacking the rear army left behind in the Ethelyn. Not just the undead but a lot of monsters begun emerging out of nowhere. Soldiers and clerics camping outside the castle run inside including Maxi. Ruth activated the barriers they sat up. But because of the number of monsters swarming the Barriers starts failing and Ruth thought that it won’t stand long before the barriers break and next to it is the fall of Ethelyn. Ruth then instructed Garrow and Ulyseon to take Maxi with them to escape under the pretense that they will deliver the message to the coalition knights that the Ethelyn is under attack. They went inside the secret passage that will lead out.

When they are out Maxi recognized that they are going the wrong way. Then the two Knights it was what Riftan instructed. Maxi was guilty to leave all those people behind, including Ruth and Herbaron who are still fighting. In the distant she saw one of the barriers located in the south failed which opened the south of the Ethelyn open. Maxi begged the two to go back and help the others escape as well. Then she saw another barrier fail too. (Many things happened at this point and things happened fast so bare with my short cuts please)

So she made a bargain with the two knights. They were located at the top of Ethelyn. She saw an opportunity to help. She proposed a plan saying she can try to break the face wall of the mountain to blocked the monsters from entering the castle. The two knights were skeptics. But she begged them to let them have her try. If she fails they will flee Ethelyn. The two rode back and went to the spot Maxi told them but on their way they where attacked. Maxi rolled over the ground and a troll start kicking her to her stomach. So she found back and stabbed the troll with a knife that Riftan gave her. She starts walking to the edge of the cliff and start pouring her mana to build a wall and have it collapse to add pressure to the mountain face rock. However, the mountain was sturdy than what it looks like, she watched from below how the monsters swatmed Ethelyn so she tried again and again till she run out of Mana. She thought if it was Ruth or Agnes where there and not her then they would have made the mountain face colapse in an instant. Seeing as how the other remaining barriers are at the brink of failing she told herself to try one last time. She draw out of her mana and starts building a wall, she made it really high and big that it felt her muscles and veins were burning and hursting but she didn’t stop. Then when it was already big she let it collapse once again. The mountain didn’t budge so out of frustration she cri d and shout for it to colapse then the mountain shake and little by little the mountain face wall start crumbling. Soon after big rocks star avalanchegin so she hurriedly backed away but she has no strength and was caught. Good thing Garrow and Ulyseon caught her. They were in a hurry they pulled her out of even knowing that doing so will injured her. This left with her dislocated shoulder. They carried Maxi on their back. She can barely open her eyes but she can hear everything. The two were panicking because she was bleeding and she skin was already cold because of Mana Depletion. Then she heard the two was begging the temple knights to heal her. It made her heart at ease knowing that the temple knights returned switch only meant that Riftan is also on its way back.


When Maxi opened her eyes, a week had passed. As per Ruth she almost died that night. Everyone was walking on eggshells around her because Riftan went rampant and halt insane after seeing her as good as a corpse that night. Ruth thanked Maxi because if not for her everyone inside the castle knew they are about to die there. The two barriers left was barely holding on it she didn’t do what she had done they probably dead.


When she woke up Riftan was beside her. Riftan begged Maxi to go back with Princess Agnes. He cried and begged her to not put him through that again. She went back with Princess Agnes to Dracauim to where the Royal family is. Apparently she didn’t just simply drained her mana but she took powers from her life source, this was not only dangerous but it can shorten the lifespan of a person if done recklessly. Fortunately it didn’t leave her with permanent damage.

She stayed there while waiting for her husband. She plans on talking to him now that the was is over. While waiting she was informed that her father was there. She was asked audience by her father. But when they were just alone he started insulting her again. He said she needs to go back to Croyso castle to avoid Riftan divorcing her because she lost a child. She can’t believe it so she run out and asked Eliot if it was true. Eliot can’t answer so she just cried. Her father again told her to come with him, She said she wanted to wait for Riftan but remembered she lost their child and what his father told her that Riftan will divorce her. Afraid of it happening she went back with her father.
