I don't get all the hate. I'm usually pretty sensitive to this kind of things, so I was ready to hate this sequel but here I am, loving it more that the prequel.
The phrase you all hate hit me too to be honest BUT it's would be an understatement to say that's the first time we're reading something like this. It's just the words used that are a lot more direct, and I could be because of the traduction. Don't you remember any other story where one of the main characters is reassuring someone, telling them they are great, or pretty as they are or something like that ? To me, it's really similar.
The direct phrasing is, on the contrary, really really well compensated by the fact that he did draw the line really thick and instantly. He made a call to his lover as soon as he could, took the temperature to see if it was ok, told the coworker that he had someone FOR life, and he made sure to not be misunderstood by both people, even for the part of "I'm not making fun of you, just so you know" before telling him about being gay and having someone.
It's, in fact, so GREEN of him, I'm not sure it's realistic.
I would really usuall be the first to ask the same question some of you said as to "what's the use of this sequel ? Just the cheating trope, etc etc" but really, it didn't appear to me that way at all (maybe cause of the comments I was expecting much worse and that helped ?) on the contrary, as I first said earlier, it helped me love the story more, and above all the ML. It took the character development a lot further than the basic and fast pace of the prequel. And the coworker, as basic as his story seems (contrary to his apparence and caracter), is really interesting, and GREEN too. I was afraid the author was going for the "crap, he's too gentle and I'm vulnerable so I'm falling in love with him even tho it's so wrong of me" but NO.
GREEN, everywhere. I tell ya.
So here I am, surprised to feel like that about a story I didn't like that much, and a ML that got on my nerves in the prequel, contrary to this sequel. :p
