Another commenter said it best. It's because their beginning was not romantic. It was respectful and caring and supportive, but Tei never crossed the line with Shuraka. He acted in fealty, loving Shuraka in the only way appropriate for an adult to love a child; even though they were betrothed. BWAT is King. I love them.
