I mean yea the author built up to the current situation. Hell, choosing to set the story in a time without cell phones opens up the path for easy miscommunication trope. All this is true but just bc it's true doesn't mean I enjoy it. Miscommunication has always been one of the most annoying tropes so just bc it's set up well doesn't make it any less annoying
