I don't read comments so idk if other's agree but this is just my take on the situation. If my partner suddenly said we should take a break because of their own insecurities instead of having a conversation, I would feel so betrayed and hurt

If your partner is going to be your forever priority no. 2, a break to revaluate the relationship is the least you could do for them..
Maybe I'm not understanding something about romantic relationships but I don't see why you need to exit it to re-evaluate it. I also don't see why you can't have an actual conversation about it before going to such drastic measures. Friendships are the only type of relationship I'm inclined toward, and I would want my friend to talk to me first and get my side of the story rather than deciding that I'm too friendly with other people and that we should stop being friends for a while. Like it would be one thing if there had been some kind of longstanding breakdown in communication but this came out of left field entirely
