this reminds me of reading Warehouse, people also found that disturbing even though it was meant to be disturbing from start to finish. That's just the kind of story it is, it's not a romance, there's no point in expecting romance. I think their dynamic will always have powerplay and sadomasochism from both sides, I don't really expect them to treat each other much better in the future, unless they both emotionally heal from their relationship to violence which is unlikely. I can't imagine either of them going to therapy lol
