WW should've been admitted to psychiatric help ever since that entire ordeal with the dad.
Relieving him off of his debt or whatever doesn't magically disappear the fundamental dysfunction in his psyche. He's always been psychologically and emotionally dysfunctional, he's just too good at objectively looking like a functional human being.
He doesn't need a boyfriend, or an engagement ring, or whatever. Giving him materialistic and tangible means of coping will normally make a person worse and more dependent on it.
Running away is also not a good option, because he never is going to get out of spiraling into a hole of self-deprecation in that circumstance. He has always needed professional help, and an actual psychiatric diagnosis and recovery. If Seo-an can receive and undergo psychiatric treatment and therapy, why can't he provide that to WW? If Seo-an is so good at taking the initiative, why can't he choose that instead of just waiving off all those debts?
And this "journey" to find himself? In some way Seo-an is still involved in monitoring him. WW is still somehow dependent on Seo-an. Thinking of him and finding how to be useful to him and whatnot. Like that's just a sad way to live your life and it's harmful if you don't notice it soon enough.
And since we're talking about men here, I don't think people understand the gravity of how humiliating it is to have someone pay off all your debts when you've slaved all your life trying to pay it off. Someone so wealthy just waiving something that held your life at gunpoint is so humiliating I would be killing myself in my head. Yes, it's relieving. But its the kind of relief that suffocates you at night thinking how useless you are that you can't save yourself even if you slaved your life away just for it.
I get people getting annoyed at WW for running away, being an indecisive coward or whatever, but this is what happens to unprivileged people who only know how to swallow the pain and just keep breaking. WW's not wired to seek mental help, he's wired to make sure he keeps himself in line and functioning because there are people who have it worse than him, he's wired to believe that he's not worth anything being invested in. WW has always thought of himself being so much lesser because he feels that's all he is worth and that's all he could ever amount to be. He feels like he doesn't even deserve to be vulnerable around others. If he breaks, then he breaks. He doesn't feel or mentally even recognize he's of any value to be "fixed".
Seo-an just taking the initiative to put WW into some tailor-fit aquarium would, realistically, just make WW worse as an individual. He would be comfortable in Seo-an's world, but if he steps out, he's lost. Seo-an goes around saying he's giving WW the "choice" but if you read between the lines the power imbalance makes it so that WW is inclined to be indebted to Seo-an and act accordingly to Seo-an's environment.
All this build up of trauma for WW yet the dogshit narrative keeps making it look like Seo-an's actions are all justifiable and that WW is the one lacking in all aspects
