One thing I can say, is that the storyboard for the scene was perfect, it felt wrong, as it should.
And the insight on Incheol's training by Myeongsun that carries his decision to remain in the assault, shows that he has been groomed to forgo of himself for his goals, script-wise is powerful, and breaks the unshakable persona that he shows other people.
I’m wondering what you are as well. But that’s why it doesn’t feel out of the blue. A major theme of the story is our protagonist’s ego , pride and boundaries crumbling more and more by people around him as he continues to pursue / maintain his position in life & work. This is also reflected in his deteriorating relationship with his girlfriend.
i genuinely didn’t expect it to go this way either — i figured it would be fucked somehow but not quite so violent and stomach-turning. i was so lured in by pyeonghwa being the masochist, seeing him get constantly beat up, i didn’t imagine him to be the aggressor. i guess i assumed we would get another look at him at some point, but i didn’t realize it would be so soon, or like this at all. but i think the author set it up excellently and really delivered the disturbing nature of everything so well, i agree with your analysis!
SAMEEE like u can SEE how viscerally annoyed and borderline feral pyeonghwa gets when he sees just how far incheol is willing to go for this "great person" he works for. it's like it just pushes him to break incheol further, like ok ur not stopping me? watch what i do. watch what sticking your neck out for ppl who dont give a shit is gonna get u

A lot of people making the point that they expected this kind of violence in their first time, I'm reading it too, I actually didn't, the encounter started as a negotiation, how it evolved to Pyeonghwa assaulting Incheol misses me, from what I can gather by Pyeonghwa previous sex partner really enjoyed their time with him, the one who turned out hurt by the encounters was him, so it felt out of character.
Makes me think that this carelessness and cruelty towards Incheol comes from something else, it looks like he is reflecting someone in Incheol and punishing him for sins he has not committed, he was shown confusing Incheol with a police officer, and this obsession with him is unwarranted, the way he looks at him after cumming, how he hovers over him and licks him like a beast with a recently hunted prey, we knew that he fancied him, but not to this extent, is vicious in a way.
Idk, jumble up thoughts, gonna keep reading it because I have faith in this story scripting, either way, doesn't mean that I wont be taken aback by a sexual assault scene.
