Personally I'm okay with this one because they was physical distance between them and he was under the impression that he would find a wife or consort while he was gone so there's no grooming element. Other stories have the older characters fall for the love interest while they are still kids which is what's so weird but I don't really have an issue with the age gap either way.
It's still ick but you really can't tell the difference between grooming and waiting until a minor turns 18 vs a political marriage where the older character only has protective feelings with expectations that it's a temporary arrangement and then they have no contact for over a decade?
Maybe should do some more critical thinking on the nuances of the situations rather than just guffawing to yourself about how everyone is so hypocritical and how you're the only one who sees the light?
lol in my opinion, as long not grooming is taken place it good to me. As the story is taken place in seems to be historical times, bs like this happens more often than not, an example would be inbreeding of royals (not related to the story but that's the first thing i thought of),
i ramble here skip lol
which would be disgusting in tdy's world, but sacred and neccessary to them to keep the blood pure. (dk what they thought like what)
in conclusion of my useless rumbling, the characters in the story are following the standard political marriage as a treaty of peace/trigger for war coz our dear mc is a male so yeah quite a common situation vv cools as long they happi i happi :D
I absolutely get your point. My point was regarding how some underage ships follow indeed this same theme and way of telling a story with a huge age gap. I’ve read a ton of gofushi doujin where there not a single trace of grooming, where the romance starts developing when Megumi is an adult (or satoru is an adult when is reverse age gap) and people condemn it nonetheless. In this story, the “top”, the child, still calls the bottom “my beloved” that’s a romantic title. Whether the bottom has or not the intention of getting sexually involved with the top, they are a romantic couple because the top, even as a child, given the setting this is written in, knows the meaning of having a wife/concubine.
So even while following the same style, people condemn ships like gofushi but celebrate this kind of couples. Hypocritical imo.
No. You’re understanding what you want because in this case the top is the child. But if the bottom was the child your opinion would be absolutely different. I commented this based on doujin where they follow this EXACT SAME TROPE, magical kingdoms with royalty nuances and people have still condemned ships like Gofushi, where there’s NO GROOMING whatsoever and the mere fact of having Megumi and Gojo as a ship has caused hatred beyond believe. But this is okay bc what? They’re original characters? Very convenient to hypocritical obtuse people like you. I love this kind of tropes. But if you need to thread like that to make yourself feel better about your paper doll morals, go ahead. You’re not going to heaven anyway, and you’re definitely not a better person than the rest.

It’s funny to me though how people are so accepting of this story with the huge age gap but it’s somehow okay bc they waited until he was an adult to introduce the smut. But when you say you read gofushi or any kind of age gap with a minor (with no sex until, let’s say, Megumi turns into an adult) is grooming and gross. But this is acceptable? I mean, I don’t mind either. I enjoy gofushi and LOVE brothers without a tomorrow with all their tropes and kinks. But I find it funny how hypocritical some people can be. I’m glad most of Brothers without a tomorrow fans don’t give a fuck about morals and we enjoy the stories without this preconceived notions.
