I’ve been around since a little longer than you, and I think it’s just a generational shift.
If you’re lucky to stumble anywhere where adults are discussing stuff, you’ll notice most are willing to listen to your reasoning without jumping you for liking what you like. For example, a few weeks ago I stumbled upon a review of a certain series that’s questionable, which the reviewer acknowledged but she also acknowledged what most reasonable people understand, and that is that ultimately it’s all not real and nobody in the comments were jumping her.
This site skews young, it seems the vast majority of users are not even 18 yet.
right?? like what a waste of creative thinking if art can't be interpreted and disproportionate and absolutely life questioning but while also trying to get a point across? like where tf did that go? god this new gen sure is fucked up.

A question for you guys, I don’t know if you read BL, but I feel like every other day someone is b*tching about how bored they are with it, blah, blah. I don’t remember so much b*tching back in the day (ok maybe only in the Bleach forums). Do you guys remember there being so much b*tching before (it doesn’t have to be about BL, I just feel like BLs are becoming everyone’s punching bag?
I've been into BL for a long long time and yeah it's getting so much traction these past few years. it's getting plain insufferable.
one things for sure, if people didn't like something, they'd just comment about their dislike - at most, most people would just drop without announcing to the world- no one would tent in the communities of these said stories that they like and defend their hate for it like a fuckin job, and preach their opinions like it's bound in blood. shits pretty weird these days. people used to be more chill about it. now it's like they fighting tooth and nail.
i myself have been in the anime/manga scene for more than 15 years, i really don't wanna use this phase as I'm still pretty young but back in the day it truly used to be about enjoying the craft in whatever fucked up manner it came in, and just rolling w it, using this as a safe space, to escape to from the annoyance of reality. my question is, when tf did this same safe space become so fuckin insufferable of a community to be in?
