Yeah and why do they have to call their omega uncles aunts???

I think in the omegaverse world anyone who gives birth is given the title of “mother” I mean omegas and beta woman are the only ones who give birth so they are classified as mothers.

Hyesung also calls himself the mom, so he definitely likes being called that

Sry but that’s not what the definition of ‘mother’ is; a mother is defined as “a female parent of a child”. This is why lesbian couples with kids are both referred to as mothers, regardless of who gave birth. This is also why male seahorses who do give birth (mpreg is real) are still called fathers, not mothers.

Are you saying that a non-binary parent can't refer to themselves as a mother because they aren't female? Because it really sounds like you're splitting hairs here in a made up world where completely made up genders exist alongside real ones.

You also have to keep in mind that omegas are rare in many stories. Male omegas are even rarer in some, so I imagine that the majority of the people giving birth are beta women. And betas still uphold societal norms aka mom/dad, and bc omega male= rare they are still classified as “mothers”

That is not what I said, nonbinary parents should be able to identify however they want. Some may feel they identify more as a mother than a father or vice versa; that is up for them to decide. And yes, I do understand the world in this story is a completely made up setting, but at the same time fiction can be a reflection of reality — in this case, this manhwa gives insight into the author’s view on gender and parenthood. It is absolutely odd here that a person identifying as a man with he/him pronouns is continuously referred to as ‘mom’/ ‘mother’. Now this definitely isn’t the only author to do this. I’ve seen many stories written by authors who refer to the bottom in a gay relationship with extremely feminine terms like “wife” and “mom”; and no, these terms weren’t being used ironically or as slang. As a queer Asian who is part of more Asian-centered online communities and social medias, I’ve noticed that this is likely an unfortunate result of the fact that many East Asian countries aren’t very progressive on LGBTQ+ topics, which often results in the fetishization of gay men and their relationship dynamics. This is not to say that I dislike and disprove of these queer stories, but that there is always room for improvement especially when it comes to mindfulness of the queer community and how they’re portrayed in fiction. We as human beings should all able to learn new things and be considerate of what we say as to not harm other people and communities! :)
