Also I've always thought this about the mom and dad but the babies are also pretty-ugly and handsome-ugly lmao
It's such a curious thing, because if you look at the sub characters, they don't give off that vibe–they mostly just look...human. like people you'd see in real life.
Whereas while the main characters do look like they could be characters in a manhwa, their features are still pretty realistic looking in terms of dimples, wrinkles, and details you'd see on a human face irl. But the rendering is still evidently flat and has that 2d look. I think it's the artist trying to marry those art styles together that gives the main characters that uncanny feel...and now I see it in the babies as well.
And I honestly appreciate that. As someone with a realistic/semi-realistic artstyle who's now stanning 2d boys...I still haven't found a happy medium between my original artstyle and the source material, which is tormenting to say the least, both while in the process of creating the art and after posting them.
