Don’t forget what happened at chapter 45! But, I think the reason why he’s still acting this way aside from the fact that he still loves Brett is because he still carries with him the guilt of what happened to Brett. I love Brett ffs, even after what he did to Hayden. Lol. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!
