Not giving up is stupid tbh, he is just torturing his dad, and basically risking his own life for someone that doesn't even look human and will kill him if he can
he's not just "someone" to him yk? he is his dad and from the flashbacks we got of mc's past we can see that his dad was a really good person both to him and others and it would have been one thing for him to not want to give up on his dad if he were deadbeat and treated him badly but that is not the case here and lets be fr who would want to give up on someone who has cared and loved you for like your entire life? idk ab everyone but i wouldnt do that im not saying this as if im a saint but i just feel like mc not wanting to give up on his dad shouldnt be called stupid just bec wants to live with his dad a little longer. sorry ab the long ahh para btw i just got kinda emotional cus im missing my dad TwT (P.S HE'S NOT DEAD IM JUST ON VACATION)
Ik is not just someone to him, but it IS selfish and stupid. If you see your dad, dying everyday, decaying and suffering, would you really let him be alive and suffering just in order to see him? Or would you let him rest and keep his memory and legacy. I get what you are saying, and I also get what you mean by him not being stupid, but sometimes, ruthlessness is mercy, and the emotions end up blinding our judgement.
