My take: 1. I get Joo-an's confusion on whether he is being possessive and this distraught because he is in love or he doesn't want to lose his best friend. They have been together for MANY years. That's soulmate level of loss whether romantic or platonic. I can't imagine losing my bestfriend. 2. Joo-an did NOT know about Seojoon's feelings. It's all one sided and Seojoon knows about it. That talk about Joo-an didn't even think of crossing that distance = SEOJOON BEING FRUSTRATED WITH HIMSELF. He is not blaming Joo-an for not falling for him but rather frustrated with himself saying "Why did I stay with him all this time? knowing that distance will never be closed? Why I can't stop myself to love this person?" 3. No. 2 just shows how lovable Jooan is in front of Seojoon's eyes. I mean, that bench scene? also, him following him with just a bathrobe, his feet full of abrasions, no slippers? He really can't help himself but fall in love. BUT, his conversation with Ines was also integrated with his characterization. That's why this time is an ultimatum. He agreed with a deadline. He is not the person dedicated so much to the person he loves to the point of choosing to wither away in the background. that's him taking care of himself, a big change from no. 2.
