There's so many light hearted Korean BLs running currently. You just happen to only be reading the dark romances. That's a you problem, not a Korean manhwa problem.
Right like it’s so easy to find so many I’ve read many of them recently and the factor saying they can’t find any when it’s literally a quick Google or TikTok search is crazy to me that’s literally how I find most of the ones I read
So here's the thing that's been bothering the hell outta me for a while.. Korean manhwa authors seem to only focus on the dark romance genre recently, and not even the well-done ones. And even the ones who are not are filled with dark romance characteristics. Most of the characters are the same, the way the act, talk, fuck and interact with each other is the same, and always ending up on a beach in last episode. But the art of Korean manhwas is what's drawing the attention. Other than that, these characters are all the same, and sometimes it feels like someone's gay p fantasy instead of a love story with complexity. The characters are all bland, boring and passive, the tops characters are shitty and most are assholes for the sake of it! The sex scenes are all do rapy and awkward and unconsentual . It's like gay orientalism of straight relationships but make it gay, not even a single switch couple that I've seen w my own eyes. BL just lost its appeal honestly I'm only here for the art atp ofc except for a couple of good one ofc.
