I think they ending for this series is very fitting. To me at least it really felt like the writing was on the wall since there was always one thing left unaddressed and it was the Ml's sociopathy and how that interwined with his sadistic tendencies. From the beginning he has always talked about the way he sees other people as possessions, objects, and how he has never actually felt anything for other people. So when the MC goes against what he wants and does something for himself he doesn't know anything about how to handle it and literally crashes out because he's never been in a position where he's actually been at a disadvantage or losing control. For him to grow he needs to see professional help and I think that's what makes this story make sense.
