Like i dont mind if theres SA murder violence as long its for the benefit of the fictional story. Im not one of those oh theres SA or violence in the fictional story im not gonna read it. Im not that close minded for a fictional world. If it makes the story or characters more complex, interesting or moves the plot within the bounds of the narration made by the author, i dont mind. But i totally judge their writing skills for using it and not making sense with it. Why use plot devices that is not within the characterization of the characters or narration of their world? Thats what i mean. Of crs my views is different with reality.
“Atleast make the lil bro drunk or the mc high or smth” And by this im not saying it will justify the act, but theres literally nothing that propels the lil bro in chapter one (or maybe there will be? Idk im still reading dont judge me for jumping to conclusions) that narratively wouldve made more sense. Just my two cents. Im still reading like chapter 5.
Right?? Like i would understand if ml turned out to be a playboy, or he drank aphrodisiac that night or smth for him to do that. But he turns out to be this emo introverted gamer hikikomori virgin like where did chapter 1 came from? I was so confused. It makes no sense and yes feels cheap writing. I was so disappointed cos i the mc was interesting.
Lots of BL have this type of problem where they need to force smut in the beginning even if the characters aren't ready for it. If I have to guess why, it's probably because that's what draws most readers/buyers. I have seen a lot of really well written BL that don't get nearly as many viewership because it takes time to get to the smut. Also, this explains why there are so many assault and red flags characters, because you wouldn't get the dissonance like how it is with this series, where characterization doesn't match the assault.
Yeaa its an epidemic at this point. Im not expecting shakespeare level writing but cheapens the story so much. But honestly most ive read is its with in the bounds of the character (like ml is alr an asshole initially). So im not as mad or disappointed, just wierded and disgusted how often its used by writers (beyond trends, is it like a kink?). But its stories like these that disappoints me most in a literature stand point. (Im salty cos it happened in Bloody Moon and I cry in disappointment cos i loved the beginning of the story)
I agree with you. I have dropped lots of stories where I feel the smut is forced, but it needs to be said that this genre is primarily smut, so it targets that demographic. While there are a few hidden gems, most of them are meant to be consumed as porn with plot, so if you asked if this is a kink, there is a high likelihood that it is. If you want a safer alternative, there is shonen ai.

Im not one to judge an SA as long as its used properly and understandably in the plot but wow that was so unnecessary, uncharacteristic, and doesnt make sense. Atleast make the lil bro drunk or the mc high or smth
