As much as i love the dynamic of the main couple, everytime nick and louis has a conversation i completely lose it bc of the angst. Nick is such a vaguely written character that the author wants the readers to figure out, and after my like 5th? time reading this I’ve drawn the conclusion that Nick’s final act of love is that he sacrifices himself for the people he truly loves. He knew that it was not going to work out with louis bc of his fked up father and that is love alone wasn’t gonna be enough, he fking knew what louis wanted from him and the words louis wanted to hear but he did would rather let louis hate him than see him unhappy from the immenent dangers his father could inflict upon their relationship, he’s calculative in a really sad way but this is all he knows how to do things whereas theo is chill like that “yeah i got beat up by my dad for meeting you but i couldn’t care less i will keep loving you” damn as much as i would love a theo, nick will always keep me on a chokehold
