I remember seeing a comment where someone compared dating hybrids like dating someone of a certain race and how festish-y that would be but as you pointed out in this world many hybrids aren’t out in the open, so in theory he had no way of knowing at the beginning of each of those relationships that they were hybrids. In that case a better analogy would be trans people as some people are very open about being trans and others aren’t, some are passing and some are not and if I knew someone who dated people who were all trans but all over the spectrum (in this case different animals) I’d think the person was just more open minded and was the kind of person who felt like a safe space.
That said if he only started dating them after he found out that would be fetish territory.
This story beat is weird. First, he didn't start this relationship. He was chased first. So what does he have to own up for? And with his past relationship, it's normal to have multiple past partners. And it was told that beast people hide what they are till they feel comfortable. How can we say how any of thoses relationships started? They all just so happen to be beast people, this story never hinted that he had a 'type' before now. And i think they forgot about his mind reading abilities completely. He could have solved all of this a lot sooner if he just used it. Still find the story fun, might let it cook for a while so i can read through this annoying drama
