he truly started to care after the discussion with the old coach at the hospital - this was eye opening. this was the realization that Dan is important and needs to be loved. to be honest i was also taken aback - like what, a single word from the old coach and he's in love haha but at the time in the comment section i could see a lot of readers pointing out that old coach is a father figure, his words weigh a lot. i also think maybe this was just as if the old coach permitted that he actually loves someone - instead of training, let yourself be in love. JJ just stopped denying his feelings. previously when he was drunk and gave Dan some kiss marks, he looked at it being upset and thinking he lost his mind. I think he had many times where he cared but he stayed selfish smh because he was in denial. nevertheless i also think the 180° change is surprising but i like how Dan is reacting to it - he's surprised like us - haha! but this is quite heartwarming we're loving it right, let's see
