Haru and the twins had the same father. Haru's father and haruko got divorced and haru lived with haruko after the divorce. Then haru's father married again and had the twins, then ask haru to lived with them since haruko isn't family oriented. That's why when their father and current mother died, the sagami family (from the mother side) only want to take the twins. Hope this helpful to you
