I guess he meant he wouldn't bother him again in the sense that he would stop trying to flirt with him whenever they met... not that he would stop talking to him altogether. Since they hang out in the same circle of friends, I guess he thinks it'd be a lot more awkward for either of them, and everyone, if he started acting like he suddenly forgot Mio exists.
