I feel like the boyfriend is somehow related to the mc father. Illegitimate son maybe or ex lover or something like that. I only think this because the line where the mom said her son looked so much like his father seemed important, like it was hinting at something

    Or maybe creepy dude is the little brother of the mc father and he was in love with his older brother and is now transferring that to his olde brothers son
