Nobody should perform a sexual act if they don't want to, do yall remember what that's called? (clue: it's not a good thing).
Yes, his words weren't put in a nice way but since he remade his statement, I hope his views changed a bit, and maybe they switch!

and it's ok for him to be selfish while the other guy always bottoms? relationships take compromises as well. maybe they just aren't right together...

"selfish" is a bit too much, he worries about his partner as well. let's say you're dating someone and they always bottoms, one day they suddenly say they want to fuck your ass, to which you refuse by whatever reason you may have, were you being selfish? not at all. It's called preference, if you're not ok with someone fucking your ass, it's a preference, maybe you change your mind in the future, but it's completely fine to say no to something you're not comfortable with.

I agree. However, I think it says something about his character that he'd so blatantly refuse. That should be an indicator that he still needs to grow up, and it's probably also a sign that he's insecure. Perhaps, the uke was subconsciously ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍ ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍more interested in testing the waters to see the extent of the seme's trust in the relationship. If so, the seme failed.

The seme def failed. To not even consider it and just flat out refuse means he has not an ounce of consideration towards his partner. Which is basically the definition of selfishness

Actually, he does originally accept. It’s just that, when they actually started, he couldn’t go through with it — which is completely fine, I would say, it is indeed a matter of preference. The wording was just used by the author to create drama, which I don’t think was necessary, but otherwise his attitude there is not outrageous.

It's the preference of the uke to try bottoming too
