It is a pretty straightforward storyline. The bar keeper is an orphan who also lost his foster/adoptiv family, whose kindness he couldn't accept. As a matter he doesn't really understand the concept of a caring family/environment. Someday (that part isn't explained) he settles for his work at the bar. He works there without pay but gets a rove over his head. But his social skills aren't the best and so he often gets in fights with the customers, some of these resulting in him getting raped.
In this situation the cook, who has lost his wife in child birth, appears, he witnesses the situation and decides to help the bar tender by inviting him over. Slowly but surly he learns the extend of his situation: the lack of pay, the rape. The cook falls in love and tries to help, introducing and offering a save and kind environment to the bar tender, who doesn't want to intrude. Even if he repeatedly gets invited.
After paying the bartender for his work, the bartender puts more distance between them and goes back to his life in the bar. Time passes and the cook goes back for him and findes the bartender again in the ally full of trash where most fights and rapes happen.
From the way he is puking it is likely that he was sexually abused just moments before the cook arrived. This time he takes him home again and this time the former bartender accepts the kindness, the love and the cooks confession. And so they become a family of three.

Not how I read it. Mostly the seme just seemed like a victim blamer. Don't know how people can't see that is confusing to non victim blamers. KT.
