I'm so pissed! I followed this story since nearly it's beginning! lezhin is awful and it is their fault.
The author herself deiced to discontinue the series. Maybe she'll continue the series once the contract with Lezhin expires but that's not for sure.

Tbh I don't support the decisions the authors made. According to them they've had a problem with Lezhin for a long time but if that's the case then why didn't they finish their stories in a proper way? There are enough authors who managed to do this. There was no need for a third season of Dolphin Fairy and Sadistic Beauty would've been finished months ago if she hadn't wasted so much time (she wrote 4 chapters about ONE threesome, added rapey-guy etc.).
I support the protest in general but to me these particular authors don't protest. They're not trying to change anything. They just gave up, hoping that changing the publisher will improve their situation which probably won't happen (just look at the Window to Window author). They'll still have to work long hours, they probably won't get paid better and the schedule will still be the same.
And they don't hurt Lezhin with it. They have hundreds of comics and manga, they don't care if a few artists decide to drop their comics. They can easily replace them with something else.
But they hurt their readers, their fans, and themselves with it. We paid for their comics and now we don't get a finished story? Why should I ever buy something from them again when I can't be sure that they'll finish what they started? I immediately dropped Dolphin Fairy when I saw the indefinite hiatus note.
TLDR how would you finish a series when youre in the blacklist ? in addition of not getting paid for the damned work.
These authors weren't on a blacklist and they were/are paid for their work. The payment problem was solved years ago and it was about the sales through a Chinese app. Neither Sadistic Beauty nor Dolphin Fairy even existed back then.
Right now they don't complain about not getting paid, they just want more money.

how are you so sure about the situation they are in? making comics takes ALOT of time and ALOT of effort so if the author isn't able to continue making the comic with the wage they're living in then thats the decision they've come to. On Lezhin we pay 3 coins for each comic which equals about 0.88 USD PER EPISODE. NOT including any fees that are paid to lezhin for using that site. they're being paid pretty dirt cheap so I'm not at all surprised if the author didn't think it was worth in anymore.
Because they tweeted about it. They literally told us about their situation the whole time (Stone Henge deleted her account but she also tweeted about it).
And Sadistic Beauty was one of the most popular series they had. Dolphin Fairy was pretty popular when it was still ongoing as well. These creators earn a lot more than the minimum (roughly about $1870) and the minimum would already be enough to live in South Korea. That's the reason why they can afford to quit or go on an extended hiatus.
I only tell you what the creators told us.
even if the authors want to finish their work early... that's not possible since the number of chapters a series have is already in the contract and the whole plot for the season is already prepared beforehand. and also i think its impossible to continue the story on other company because lezhin have the rights for the story
in regards to payment, all artist are not being payed properly for their job.
1. when a manuscript is submitted they should get paid for it separately and not just from the coins
2. when the manuscript is late, their is an 8% penalty on their salary which is not included in the contract and is very unreasonable. the deadline is 2days before the release date but clearly uploading a chapter on their website need only short amount of time
3. their is a quota requirement on how much a chapter should earn, if the quota isnt reach, the artist will not get paid!! and is labeled as low income artist!!!
4. they are not getting paid in time
5. discrimination between male artist and female artist. male artist are treated well.... during meeting female artist bring their own foods even cafe!!!
and many more reasons.... I'm only stating base on my memory of what I've read in an article
just because the artist of sadistic beauty, dolphin fairy or any other big title authors earn a lot of money..... that doesn't mean they dont exprience problems in lezhin management. and all of this artist are friends, of course they will support each other
also, if the series isnt popular. lezhin will cut of the series short completely disregarding the contract..... really shows lezhin abuse in their power and intimidating the author just because they are women ...

3. That's not true. Every artists gets at least the minimum doesn't matter how much they earn. If their 30% share is more than the minimum they get paid the 30% share.

I'm not saying that they don't have problems. I'm saying that quitting and not trying to do anything to change the situation is something I don't support.
No, that's not how it is. They're guaranteed the possibility to publish a certain amount of chapters. If it's not popular they won't be able to publish more if the company doesn't allow it. But the creators should be able to finish their stories with the amount of chapters they were given.
And they can publish less chapters. That's exactly what they did. They decided to discontinue their comics=they publish less chapters than planned. So why did they not finish their stories then?
Oh, I forgot. They only have the exclusive rights for a certain amount of time (usually 3 years). They can publish the story wherever they want afterwards.
the creators never complain in public doesnt mean they dont have complain privately.. not all people want to tweet everything happening in their lives.....
there was an creator which is a winner of the lezhin comic contest complain that her work contract stated for 6months(?) was cut short of 30 chapters... so she had to redo her story

30 chapters is what you can of within 6 months when you release 1 chapter per week plus the chapters uploaded at the beginning. They can't cut it short of 30 chapters because that would mean that she didn't release anything.
And the creators did complain in public, they still do. The SB creator complained a lot about everything. I doubt that she wouldn't have complained about it if she'd had problems with it.
