Alright, I'm back. ?? Switched places? No I think they did not. The elder step-brother (the crossdresser) is feeling insecured because the father kept on praising the seme's potential and approving his projects. In the story, the nationwide fashion design concept is the one of the reason the elder brother is feeling salty. And then the model (that he, terumi did not like) was approved and that triggered him to do sabotage what the seme is doing. Around half of chap. 6, the contest finally happened. The flashback (after the contest) has shown it.

kubo's goal is to be the head/top designer and his bro is a director (probably an creative director) of their company so it should be related to what he bet on to his brother. it doesn't mean the elder would be demoted tho, maybe moved into another position/department. but eventually in the end, kubo still made his own label like what is expected of him.
