I don't really know how to explain this one. I loved it so, so much. Like whoa. This was fucking, sexy, cute, it's real and it's raw. Like this manga is about REAL people. It was just beautiful. First, if you have any hesitation, don't! Just Don't. It's so fucking lovely and I feel that anyone that is a yaoi die hard like me needs to read this. This should be a required reading for a fujoshi. Okay, so basically you know I love it. First, I saw the rape tag and that made me hesitant because honestly I really try to stay with rape as a plot device to make the love interest love you, but someone said that it wasn't between the main couple. Phew, thank God. Fot the next part of this comment, there will be spoilers. I hate when people comment without warning someone about spoliers so I'm warning those who want to read the rest.
I just love both of our main characters. They are very distinct. At first they seem like two hard asses but they both have sensitive spots for each other and fear being vulnearble. What I find so interesting is that they go about it differently. For example, Miki, he would rather have sex than cry and feel heartbreak. That feltso real to me. I can relate to not wanting show my vulnerable side. I'd rather do anything else than acry in front of someone. When they told Miki's backstory, my heart nearly shattered--acctually it did shatter. Like wow. Very dark past. What is so intriguing is that when his character is first introuced, you'd never guess that he went through that. Which is what makes the writing realistic. Some people don't just change in character after experiencin trauma. Sometimes, they put on a face to others so no one suspects something is wrong. It's a efense mechanism and it is written so-so great here.
Speaking of the writing, Holy crap the narrative is splendid. the inner monologue of both characters feels so authentic. Once againa just felt very real. the flow was easy to understand. Very seldom was I confused. to be honest my confusuon was just in the first chapter and then after that, once everything was explained the story telling was on point. The art is also lovely. It is very distinct which makes it stand out. the facial reactions are once again on point. When you see a character in pain, you feel it. Especially Miki and Chiaki. You feel their pain. I also love that these characters are human. Meaning, They make mistakes--just like humans do. Their decisions are human and real and identifiable.
Chiaki, is tough and has a tough exterior, but fears being lonely. Again, i can relate to that, to avoid being vulnerable and lonely, he'll conform do everything for others before he does what he wants to for himself. i just found it interesting how these characters both deal with their pain in different ways. Both ways justified and realistic. This manga is just so real. Even the friends, although annoyed me at times, their actions are also justified and humanistic. Wow, this mangaka really knows how to tell a fucking beautiful storied with characters that you get connected to and characters that you root for. I loved how chiaki beat the shit out of that tennis instructor. When I saw him punch him. Oh God, how cathartic. You want the main couple to be together and your heart breaks for them when they run into the problems.
I also love how Miki and Chiaki, both scarred in their own way by the Kashiwa brothers. So, their relationship was very unexpected and wasn't supposed to happen, but you see it develop slowly. Sure, it starts off as sex friends, but you really see the relationship between. You see how much they care for each other and how they find solace in each other. They're happy in each other's company. Their dynamic is lovely. This manga manages to be dark and cute, and romantic and fluffy. The pacing is on point, the writing on point, the art on point. Please read this manga if you haven't. I loved it so much.
