The plot has some holes and the author changes a couple of details from time to time. They probably forget what they had written previously. So, at the start of the story Donelly says he had an older brother that was gay. Later, the person in the wheelchair is introduced as his cousin. And further ahead, it is said that his brother died in the army. So, Donelly could have more than one brother, being one of them gay and another that died. And a cosing that was a militar, got wonded and started a gay relationchip. Or the author is just confused and forgot the plot. ╮(￣▽￣)╭

Different person. Being gay pretty much runs in the family. lol. There's no plot holes in this one. It's just that stuff gets resolve too conveniently. I read the novels and sequels are a bit better. You're in it for the author's commentaries about sexuality and relationships really rather than the story or characters.. which somehow this adaptation kinda misses to hit the mark.
Wait, now i'm confused, isn't Donnelly's brother the one who married another guy, the one with prosthetic leg in the previous chapters? How come he suddenly died in afghanistan?? Or was it his cousin? I totally forgot
