What I've heard is that a lot of women and men undergo some kind of plastic surgery. Be it either small changes like double eyelids or more extreme stuff like jaw shaving..
The webtoon portrays really well how common plastic surgery is in South Korea. They are not afraid to talk about it or to point out if they don't like your looks.
But that's also where the system kinda failed.

I was actually really curious too. I looked it up and I seems about 20% of women have had plastic surgery of some kind.

"Gangnam Beauty" is a real phrase. There will be many women walking around with the same features (widened eyes, double lid, cheekbones, nose, chin, forehead). Theres a whole street LINED with clinics stacked on top of each other, and surgery ads everywhere.
You have to attach a photo ID on job applications. If you want a good job, you need to be attractive to a certain extent. You wont even get a call if you don't have a certain look. Its not uncommon for parents to gift their children cosmetic surgery as a HS graduation gift.
Ppl all around the world fly to S Korea for plastic surgery. SK surgeons are so top notch and specialized in various cosmetic surgeries.
Also, S Korea is like the leading country in skincare. K Beauty brands are entering international markets.
Just out of curiosity, is it true that most women in Korea undergo face surgery ? Regardless it's light surgery or extreme changes..
