With online stoties, this happens sometimes. I started an online novel when I was 14 years and continued writing it until I was 18, then I took a break from it (without giving any update or making contact with all the readers) for like 4 years in order to complete my bachelor degree in the uni. Once I've graduated I went back and finished the story. I also wrote many other stories that were left unfinished forever. Sad, yeah, but some authors just move on with other stuff or other stories.
Unfortunately this story last updated was in 2015...on tapastic and smackjeeves. It’s just sad that the author(s) disappeared leaving this interesting story behind...I hope they’re doing fine and maybe someday would pick this story up again.
