Ikr? It takes a while to get to know someone and it seems like they haven't been together for very long. He should just ask, sometimes all the other person really needs is someone to talk to about their past and worries and hardships. At the very least let the other person know you are there to listen if they need to talk.
Just my opinion: I hate when ukes (or semes but usually ukes) get sad/mad that they still don’t know all about their significant other when they’ve only been dating for maybe not even a year lol (especially for this manga where they were like separated for a long time )
